We require various energy sources to live and work. Geothermal, solar, wind and biomass are some of the sources. These sources are not just major sources of electricity, but also can be used to heat and transport. The biggest issue for these energy sources is that they could cause greenhouse gas emissions when used to generate electricity. This leads to the need for more sustainable energy sources.

Fossil fuels are the most well-known type of energy. They include oil, coal and natural gas. They were formed thousands of years ago, when prehistoric animals and plants died and were buried under layers of sedimentary rocks. Under the right conditions, these fossil fuels were slowly transformed into carbon-rich materials that, when burned generate energy. These fossil fuels will not be renewable since they will run dry in our lifetimes, or in many lives.

Renewable energy sources, on the other hand are continuously replenished. The primary renewable energy source is sunlight, which gives light and heat. We utilize it for our homes vehicles, businesses, and homes. Wind is an energy source renewable that generates electricity through spinning turbines. We have been using it since we first began to harness the wind for millennia. We use biological processes to create alcohol (a alcohol-like substance that is clear and transparent that can be used for fuel) from the waste of crops and other materials.

Hydropower is the most important renewable energy source in the US, but biofuels and wind will soon take over. Hydropower is a natural cycle to harness the water’s rapid flow, which is used to generate electricity.
